The basic philosophy of publication of the journal above must be kept in mind by the authors, editors, peer reviewers, and the publishers in the all stages of submitting, reviewing, and editing a manuscript to prevent any violation of the ethics or regulations for publication of the journal.
Establishing regulations and statement of ethics are needed for all the people involved in publication of the journal to observe the international standards and regulations and to maintain the high level academic achievement and the maximum educational effects as well. The statement is expected to be confirmed by the researchers and administrators involving publication of the journal.
It is critical for the quality of the journal [International J. of Korean Language Education] that all parties involved in the publication: the authors, the reviewers and the editors to adhere to strong ethical standards.

1. Duties of Authors
a. Avoid Research Misconduct: Fabrication, falsification, or plagiarism in proposing, performing, or reviewing research, or in reporting research result
b. Avoid duplicate/redundant publication: Reproducing verbatim content from their other publications
c. Avoid Plagiarism: Including but not limited to
i.        Substantial/literal copying of another’s words, ideas.
ii.        Paraphrasing another’s words or ideas without giving proper acknowledgement.
iii.        Reproducing any part of author’s own work without proper acknowledgement.
2. Duties of Peer Reviewers
a. Peer reviewers assist the editor in making editorial decisions.
b. Any selected reviewer who feels unqualified to review the research reported in a manuscript or knows that its prompt review will be impossible should notify the editor and excuse himself/herself from the review process.
c. A reviewer should treat both the submitted manuscript and data as received from the journal and related correspondence as confidential documents. Such documents should neither be disclosed to nor discussed with others except, in special cases, when shared in confidence with persons from whom specific expert advice may be sought.
d. Reviews should be conducted objectively. Personal criticism of the author is inappropriate. Reviewers should explain and support their judgments adequately so that editors and authors may understand the basis of their comments.
e. Reviewers should identify relevant published work that has not been cited by the authors. Any statement that an observation, derivation, or argument had been previously reported should be accompanied by the relevant citation. A reviewer should also call to the editor’s attention any substantial similarity or overlap between the manuscript under consideration and any other published paper of which they have personal knowledge.
f. Privileged information or ideas obtained through peer review must be kept confidential and not used for personal advantage. Reviewer’s should not consider manuscripts in which they have conflicts of interest resulting from competitive, collaborative, or other relationships or connections with any of the authors, companies or institutions connected to the papers.

3. Duties of Editors
The editors of a peer-reviewed journal are solely responsible for deciding which articles submitted to the journal should be published. The editors should give unbiased consideration to all manuscripts offered for publication, judging each on its merits without regard to sex, seniority, or institutional affiliation of the author(s). The editor may be guided by the policies of the journal’s editorial board and constrained by the legal requirement as shall then be in force regarding libel, copyright infringement and plagiarism. The editor may confer with other editors or reviewers when making this decision. The editor and members of the editor’s staff should not disclose any information about a manuscript under consideration to anyone other than those from whom professional advice is sought.
